I am interested, how do I join Teen TAS?
For those who are interested in joining us, please fill out the form below. As a minor, you may need to ask your parents to sign up at Texas Astronomical Society and choose the family membership first.
How often do you meet?
We meet bi-monthly to discuss astronomy related topics, present our projects or findings, listen to speeches from acclaimed professionals in the field, or to conduct outreach events in North Texas. During summer and winter breaks, we also organize overnight field trips to fun places such as observatories and star parties in the country.
My school activities may not allow me to meet in person, can I attend online?
We prefer meeting in person for better interactions but we do offer virtual options for those who can not meet in person.
What is Dark Site?
Dark site is the TAS member maintained observation site where we regularly meet for observation or imaging, it is about 2 hours drive north of downtown Dallas.
Do you have any active projects ?
We partner with NASA on various outreach projects. Our club members also regularly share the research and projects they are working on. We also conduct citizen projects as a club and welcome collaboration in these projects.
How do I contribute more as a member?
As our senior members graduate from high school, we welcome younger members to step up and take leadership in the club. The leadership team has a great tradition to mentor and share opportunities with younger members.
